About Winston

Winston Industries, Inc. is a
leading foodservice equipment manufacturer located in Louisville, Kentucky.
Founded by Winston L. Shelton in 1969, this family-owned business is in its
fourth decade of designing, building, and marketing state-of-the-art
foodservice equipment for restaurant chains, schools, fine-dining
establishments, food stores, and other
operations.
The company was originally incorporated as Commercial
Appliances. Its primary product was the Collectramatic® Fryer. This
revolutionary fryer, developed by Shelton and enthusiastically supported
by restaurant legend Harland Sanders, enabled restaurateurs to cook multiple
rounds of chicken without filtering. Kentucky Fried Chicken soon became the
company’s largest customer. KFC continues to be one of Winston Industries’
largest and most valued customers. In 1972 the company’s name was changed to
Collectramatic, Inc. It continued its emphasis on the development of the
pressure fryer as KFC expanded its use, both domestically and
internationally.
In the early 1980’s, the company began researching
better ways to maintain food at a high quality. The result was the
development of Controlled Vapor Technology, or CVap®. This patented
technology uses a combination of air heat and vapor heat to maintain food at
optimum condition. CVap Technology quickly expanded the company’s product
line. To better reflect this expansion, the company’s name was changed to
Winston Industries in 1984.
Winston’s product line includes the Collectramatic
Fryer, Shortening filters, Breading / Sifting tables, Collectramatic Very Low Pressure / Temperature (VLP/T) Fryer, Full Size CVap Holding Cabinets, Half
Size CVap Holding Cabinets, CVap Cook and Hold Cabinets, CVap Hold & Serve Drawer, multiple drawer CVap Hold & Serve, CVap Steamers, CVap Therm & Hold Cabinets, and CVap Display Cabinets.
